To protect reactor buildings from flooding, the pressure resistance and watertightness of the buildings are being strengthened by the replacement of waterproof doors with watertight doors and new tsunami protection doors.

3Installing automatic closing gates to openings on reactor buildings' exterior walls (Units 3 and 4)

Automatic closing gates are installed on openings of reactor buildings' exterior walls up to the level of the buildings' middle roof (approx. 20 m above sea level).
